Growth

Once, from its shell, a seed is freed
It often grows with surprising speed.
Water, we know, is the key to initiate
The prodigious annual growth rate,
Though sunshine plays a steady role
Turning spindly growth to sturdy pole.
So we recognize, from humble beginnings
The tall oak, after years of earth’s spinnings.
