Merry Christmas

The clamor of the morning
Came with ample warning.
There’s been a month of yearning
To see the Yule log burning.

Children tearing into gifts
Even ones we bought at thrifts.
Excited shouts for tiny things
Toothpaste, trucks and candy rings.

Thanks and hugs and kisses too
Until the gifting time is through,
Then a break for yummy lunch
And then a nap, I have a hunch.
