Word of the Day

Pronunciation /ˈdɪlɪdʒ(ə)ns/
A public stagecoach.

Late 17th century from French, shortened from carrosse de diligence ‘coach of speed’.

Don thought it was a hoot that the historical novel he had just been reading in the station had the main character riding in a diligence, something like the cross-state bus he, himself, was riding.
